I feel wanting some amount of appreciation for the efforts put in on something is not exactly craving fame. Rewards or a small token of appreciation gives motivation to fine-tune our skills or talents that we have and it helps us to perform better. But if we are obsessed about it and want it no matter what, even by unethical means, then that would mean seeking fame.

But nevertheless when I said in the first line that the lure of fame is true, I meant that a certain moment comes in life when we feel helpless and think that had we been famous, we wouldn't have had to go through hardships and things would have been easy for us. When such a feeling comes we desire to achieve fame. It happens in everyone of our lives, I guess. There might be some exceptions but I am yet to meet such type of people.
